No prizes for guessing my name!:rolleyes:

I am awaiting delivery of a CVP407 with poorly disguised eagerness. I had a CLP30 at the start of Clavinovas, but let it go due to lack of use.

Now I am retired :) :) :) with the time and the urge to play.

It was a battle with self - pianist wanted CLP380 with the best sampling, ivory-ish keys and less of a stage-keyboard front panel; gadget-freak experimentalist internet user wanted the CVP409.

Funnily enough the decider was the coaching facility (me - voice {well, I can dream:rolleyes: } and the grandchildren - keyboard skills whilst it is still fun;) ). And the price hike from 407 to 409PE was thought to be a little steep. Especially as the PE finish might suffer at the hands of very active little descendants and heirs. And there aren't any 409PEs in the country (UK).

So CVP407 it is.:) - coming when I can talk to the delivery man:rolleyes:

More later, but first question - how do I connect to a wireless LAN? Does a typical laptop USB "dongle" work OK? Anyone done it?

Welcome Andrew. You are in for some great fun. Has it arrived yet?

Can't tell you about connecting to a wireless lan because I haven't done it. I have hooked my CLP to the computer via USB port and used Finale with it.

I'm sure your new CVP-407 will rejoice your Christmas feasts a great deal!

As regards your technical problem of connectivity, which, I suppose, aims at setting up IDC, I can advise you to carefully consult your user manual, for there are several ways to connect your CVP to the Internet.

In particular, concerning the USB wireless adaptor, you can find useful information in
this thread (http://cvpug.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2517&highlight=adaptor).

As I recall from past discussions in the group, one must pay great attention to the choice of the particular model of the USB adaptor, in order to get a successful and working setting of the connection. This is because the CVP firmware (in all models!) sets some compatibility constraints.
