Hi,

I just wanted to let everyone know I have a new CVP-407. I have had it only one week and it is really fantastic. The piano sound is superb. I listened to some of the other voices and they are all so good they are almost unbelievable. The keyboard is very good and every bit as good as an acoustic grand. I play on a Yamaha acoustic grand every week at my piano lesson and My 407 is every bit as good if not better. One thing that seems to be new is that the una corda pedal has many different functions depending on which voice you choose. I don't remember that being the same on my 307. Overall I am very happy with my new instrument. The keyboard action makes playing Chopin even more fun. On my 307 I memorized the Chopin Nocturnes in F minor , E minor, and am now finishing the Nocturne in B major OP.9, No.3. This is the most difficult thing I have played to date. It is 9 pages long and has long runs that need to be smooth. Also, the agitato section is really great for the left hand. I have it all memorized and am working on the last run...it is a long chromatic run . It all sounds great on my 407. I figure the more I improve my technique the more I will appreciate my 407. Right now I'm really lovin' it!

Hi!

Hi,
One thing that seems to be new is that the una corda pedal has many different functions depending on which voice you choose.

Congrats on your 407! The una corda functions sounds interesting. On the 3xx it will either be soft or pitch bend by default depending on the voice (which you of course can change after). Which voices and which functions do you get by default on the 407 that aren't soft or pitch bend?

Hi,
Replys to people who have answered this thread. The store I bought my piano at is the Wausau Music Center. Phone no. is 715-845-4313. I got a very good price but that might have something to do with the fact that this is the 5th digital piano I bought there. For a new customer...just call and get answers to any questions you may have. As for the un corda pedal assignments, I haven't tried to use the pedal with lots of voices yet but there is pitch bend with some guitars and synth sounds, a tapping sound for the concert guitar, and a breath sound for some wind instruments. It's a fantastic instrument. I have no idea what Yamaha could possibly do to make it any better. Right now I am trying to figure out how to do punch in and out when I do MIDI recording.

Hi!

there is pitch bend with some guitars and synth sounds,
That's there on the 3xx as well.

a tapping sound for the concert guitar, and a breath sound for some wind instruments.
This is more interesting. But what type of voices are they? I'm guessing they are Super Articulation, right? Then it is probably the effect of Super Articulation you're hearing, not a change in the soft pedal function. You can check the function by pressing Direct Access, and then the left pedal. Does it say Soft? Then it's the voice that does it. It makes sense that when the instrument sound itself is softer, that the performers actions would be more heard, like the blowing and plucking actions.

I have no idea what Yamaha could possibly do to make it any better.
Loads and loads. We have a whole forum on it, "Clavinova Wish List", it's at the bottom of the list of forums.

Right now I am trying to figure out how to do punch in and out when I do MIDI recording.
"Digital Recording", "Song Creator", and on the "Rec Mode" tab you have the "Rec Start" and "Rec End" settings. You can punch in automatically when you start to play ("First Key On") or at a certain bar ("Punch In At"). Similarly, you can punch out when you press Stop ("Punch Out") or at a certain bar ("Punch Out At"). You can also use the center pedal to do both punch in and out by setting "Pedal Punch In/Out" to On. (This is for 3xx but I think it's the same for 4xx or at least very similar)
