I have noticed that when I play some MIDI files on the PC through the Clavinova the wrong instruments are played and the instruments on subsequent tracks are all mixed up. Once the CVP is switched off and on again the problem is fixed.
Is there a way to send a MIDI reset signal from a PC to the Clavinova or is there a way of reseting the MIDI channels through the CVP control panel (without switching the CVP off).

Hi Howard
Yes there is. I don't know if it can be sent via midi. The Sysex commands are in the datalist or databook.
There is are a number of commands which you could try.
General Midi System On
F0 7E 7F 09 01 F7
XG System On
F0 43 10 4C 00 00 7E 00 F7
the book says 1N is the Device Number
Have a play with them first.

Hi Howard
Have you solved your reset yet? Looking in the Data List there is a Realtime Message FF command you could try.
See page 37 of the Data List CVP 203 - 209

I've not had chance to try it yet - I've been really busy at work. I'll give it a go as soon as I get an evening free!

Hi Howard
Have a look at this site. Not only has it got some of the BEST midi files on the net, but all so has midi files for reseting the Midi.

Go to Midi Libraries and you will see the reset files. Download them and have a look inside them to see what he has done. Maybe you could use the info.
If not, then just download all that you can from this wonderful man. They are ALL great. And he says he can't play a note ! ! !
All done in step time.
WOW
