Am I right in thinking that the volume of the sound from a wav file being played in 'audition' mode cannot be adjusted relative to the sound created by the keyboard?

At the moment I can't hear myself when trying to play along!

Delighted to have a 407at last, having lived with a CVP5 since 1985!

But you can adjust volume of sound your're playing along. (and lower master volume if needed). I use the same technique sometimes, play Ray Charels song on my CVP, he plays and sings from CVP and I play along. :-)

OK How?!!!!

Obviously I can create a WAV file with altered volume, but that's hardly dynamic.
I want to be able to adjust it without having to go back to my PC to create an altered WAV file.

I guess I'm missing something obvious!

In desperation I've created wav files with reduced volume, in the hope I could then preset the live keyboard volume to achieve the balance I want.

With the wav file reduced by -12db it plays at slightly reduced volume, but maybe the CVP is compensating for the low level and binging it back up?

I want the wav file to play at much lower volume than the live keyboard.

I can't see how it can be done!

Hi!

I don't have a 4xx so I can't really help you. But have you tried adjusting the Song balance on the Balance display? You should at least be able to increase the volume of Left and Right1/Right2.

dbjorck, thanks for your reply.

The problem is that while the WAV is playing the CVP doesn't allow access to any volume controls (i.e. the mixer screen) except (obviously) the master volume control.

Clearly I can preset the left/right volume of the keyboard using the mixer screen before starting to play the wav file, but the net effect will be only to reduce the volume of the keyboard relative to the the wav file, whereas I need to achieve the opposite.

Is there any other way of playing a WAV file, other than Audition mode?
