I am looking for a CVP for my grand-daughter , reasonably priced and not too old for her to continue her piano lessons on.
I have already been around the majority of the music shops , while some of them had the odd CVP for sale , generally they seemed to be way over priced .

Can anyone point me in the right directions please .

Hi!

The CVP is high quality gear, and as such it is indeed very expensive. Although I agree that it seems overpriced.

You may want to consider a CLP instead. And to really get the prices down, you should consider buying used, for instance off of eBay.

Thanks for the reply , I am still looking , but maybe waiting until after the Christmas holiday in the hope that the silly prices that are being paid for some of these actually calms down.
I was very nearly dragged into the abyss and tempted by a Technics or a Kawai ....

Hi!

Don't count on it. They don't usually go down seasonally. They're considered luxury items. Russian Caviar and Rolls Royces don't go down after Christmas either :-)

The only time they may go down is after a new release - which was just recently. Since the shops will want to clear out old inventory and make place for the new ones. So it will probably not go down anymore until the next release, which should be in two years.

I still think used is the best bet; especially right now when people are looking to upgrade to the latest release, the 5 series. The CVP is high quality, and a used one is mostly not much different from a new one.

I have seen a few on Ebay that have sold for reasonable prices. The problem of course is the cost of shipping, which could exceed the cost of the Clavinova, depending on where you live. The trick is to keep checking with Ebay until you find one up for auction that is within driving distance. kartking
