For those of you who have the USA Edition Upgrade, you can create 280 KB of extra memory space by going into the Song section of your Clavinova (main panel, button A) in the User Drive area and copying to a floppy and then deleting the file: USA Edition/Method Sampler/Hal Leonard 01-50. These are 50 MIDI files that are accompaniments for the book, "Method Sampler, Books 1-5" published by Hal Leonard (HL90001803).
These files are added to your Clavinova during the USA Edition Upgrade. Most people aren't going to use them, so just copy them to a diskette and then delete them. This way you'll still have them and can put them back if you ever want to, or you can play them directly from the diskette.
Anyone can order the free Hal Leonard book referenced above under the HL order number through your local sheet music dealer.

Thanks ... wondering if there is any way to tell much memory is used/free in the Clavinova (I have a 207).

The only way I know to do this is to download everything on your U to floppies and add up all the file sizes. This would be as follows: A-Songs

Please disregard the above posting—I hit the wrong button.
I also have a CVP-207. The only way I know to do this is to copy everything that is on your USER DRIVE to floppies and add up all the file sizes, then subtract from the total flash memory available. This would be as follows: Main Screen A—Songs files; B—Lyrics/Background files (including the Color Quadrants background file, if you have it); D—Styles files; F—Main Voice files (these should be the same files as G—Layer Voice and H—Split Voice—count these only one time); and J—Registration files. Careful—there are things on the PRESET DRIVE that can be copied to floppies also; this is not what we want.
If you have the USA Edition Upgrade and have the USA Edition/Method Sampler/Hal Leonard 01-50 files under A—Song files, you can obtain 280 KB of extra space by downloading these to a floppy as mentioned in the first message of this thread and then deleting these from your User drive memory.
Put all your floppies in your computer, go to My Computer, select your A (floppy) drive, right click on Properties, and write down the file sizes on each floppy. Subtract from the internal memory size (4MB Flash Memory on a CVP-207 or CVP-209) and you know how much free memory space you have remaining.
Wouldn’t it be nice if Yamaha put on all future models a little button you could press labeled, “Memory Space Available”? I guess we can’t have everything.
