I found this forum because of my interest in purchasing a Clavinova and to hear other people's experiences and hints and tips. I've been using a 1989 model Rhodes keyboard off and on for the last 20 years. Now that the keys are falling off and my passion for piano being recently re-energised, I decided to purchase a CVP-509, which appears to have a slightly more inspiring piano sound :) . I just learnt to play The Heart Asks Pleasure First on the 509 having wanted to learn it since 1994! The internet has made finding sheet music so much simpler. And YouTube is priceless for watching how others perform.

I'm from Hertfordshire, UK.

Take care!

Welcome to the CVP Users Group. I've been playing piano all my life..... only by ear. Recently, my husband and I registered at the local Junior College and have been taking piano classes there for about six months now. Finally, I'm learning to read music and understand more and more music theory. I can see how students spend four or more years in classes learning these things. We're in our 70's and enjoy being around the younger generations. They seem to enjoy us, also.

Hi! You are inspiring. My dad, who is in his 70s, regrets not having learnt an instrument, or more precisely, the piano. It's never too late, but he has a different mindset... I'm 40 and have been a casual player for the last 20 years, off and on. I've decided to take it up more seriously. I now have the 'free' time to devote more to it. I took 6 months of piano lessons 20 years ago in Italy while I did work experience there. I can read music, but sight-reading is a slow business, but is good enough to learn new pieces. The guide mode is handy for complex pieces of music and to assess accuracy of newly memorised pieces.
