Hello fellow Yamaha fans. My name is Dave and we're currently waiting (im)patiently for a CGP1000 (http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail.html?CNTID=560625&CTID=203600) to arrive at our home in New Hampshire. We purchased it from Cordogan's Pianoland in Chicago and have been told that it's on a truck headed this way. We can't wait!

Now to find a place for my fiancee and I to get in-home piano lessons. :)

Enjoy the new toy ;)

Thank you!

The new toy arrived today, and unfortunately the movers were mooks, scuffing the entire long (left) side of the highly buffed ebony lacquer surface.

Nancie (fiancee and family butt-kicker) has been successful at chasing down Cordogan's -- who have been awesome, BTW -- the hired moving company and the outsourced moving company. Indications are that someone will be hired to professionally buff out the aberrations. I may now resume regular breathing and heartbeat.

On the bright side, Nancie states that the instrument is an absolutely gorgeous work of art and sounds incredible! I can't wait to complete my travel so I can come home and pound out a stunning rendition of "Mary Had a Little Lamb."

Have fun!

Thanks for the hospitality, Carlo.

I have to admit that I'm still in an airport waiting for my flight home and have not Read The Fine Manual yet, but I wasn't aware I could play along with .MID files. That's very cool! Can I load any MIDI file I find on the Internet onto a USB thumb drive and play along with it (eg. lighted helper keys at all), or will a MIDI file simply play, allowing me to play along with the music?

I can post this question elsewhere, but your suggestion prompted me to desire instantaneous knowledge gratification. :D

I know what you mean by waiting at airports. I used to travel at least 3 days a week for years. I can see you are a Very Polite Person... ;) The, OK, let's call it "Fine" then as you are so polite, manual, should indeed be read, but I can tell not a lot of your questions will be answered. Which is why we exist.

Yes, absolutely, you can do that. MIDI is a standard which contains the notes to play, so follow-the-lights and everything will work with ANY MIDI file you find on the net.

And this is the forum for instant knowledge gratification.

You couldn't have told better, Danny!
I propose this as the motto to appear in the home page of CVPUG.
(I'm not joking; doesn't it sound great, Wally?).

What's the expression? "Give due where dues are due" or something... I didn't formulate that excellent sentence, Dave did. I liked it a lot too, so I repeated it.

and so did I, which, once acknowledged Dave's authorship, makes three CVPUG members in full agreement.

I guess there are many more...

Best regards,
