I'm trying to connect my CVP407 to the Internet via a wireless USD device I borrowed from a friend who used it with his 307. So far I have downloaded version 1.23 and have tried to use my friends Buffalo device, but no success.

I have a NETGEAR wireless router which works on two different laptops in the same room as my 407. During the reading of past posts on the same subject, I Learned that there might be a problem if the network security is set to WPA rather than WEP. The 407 screen indicates the wireless is not connected.

Anyone out there have a solution for getting on the web? I'm interested in downloading the Music Finder +, which can only be done by connecting to the site.

Thanks,
Wes

First question is does the 407 support the USB adapter you are using? Good guess that if it works on a 307 it might, but if it isn't working it would be worth checking, particularly if its an older adapter. The 407 may have a different compatability list (I haven't checked).

Second, is the clavinova set up with the security information for your network. Manual has instructions on how to do it I believe. But note, as you suspected, clavinova only supports the older WEP security protocols which is why I couldn't go this route (my home network has to be WPA due to other devices that can't use WEP). So if your home network is WEP you should be ok, otherwise you would need to change to using WEP if that is an option.

After that, should be ok.

Alternatively get a gaming adapter / ethernet bridge and plug it in the ethernet socket (after setting it up).

Here's an older post I made about connecting my CVP 307.
Maybe it will help you out.
Best,
Steve
