I know there are several hidden sounds on my old CVP70 but I can't find the way to access them.
It's a procedure like pressing the 1st C key + 2 or 3 other buttons.
Does anyone have the real procedure ?

Thanks in advance

Hi

I used to own a CVP 70 and that's a new one on me.
Where did you get that info from?

If there are any hidden sounds then they are well hidden.

There are of course the DOC sounds but I don't know of a way to reach them from the keyboard.

The only other thing I can think of is the TEST program that you can enter.

Hi Midi Magic

I had this information during a demo by a Yamaha member a few years ago and I just bought my CVP70 a few months ago and I can't remember the procedure that the Yamaha member showed me.
There are of course the DOC sounds but a few other like 2 new piano sounds and a huge synth sound.

Hi

Well in that case I don't know. I had the service manual for one of my old CVPs it might well be for the 70, or was it the 50.

Anyway when I find it, I will have a look and see.

Has anyone found the answer to this? I've got a CVP70, and I know there's a whole other bank of hidden sounds that they used on the demo disk, but you can't access directly from the regular sound selection buttons. Perhaps someone has a similar CVP which also has hidden sounds and knows the secret?

Hi

All of the sounds are shown on page 32. As far as I remember, you can only get at these extra sounds via Mid i.e. send a program change via midi.

Yeah, I've accessed them via MIDI, but was just wondering if anyone has figured out how to do so without having to hook up another box. As I remember the additional sounds weren't so spectacular; I just don't understand why Yamaha would create the sounds and not make them available.

As I have said before, these are the DOC sounds. The sounds that are used with the "Disk Orchestra Collection" disks.

Well, hello everyone. I just joined your forum and found this thread - and I know the answer. I've had my CVP-70 about 15 years and when I first had it I played around a lot with MIDI, etc. I can't remember where I found out about the extra sounds, but here goes:-
Hold down the buttons MIDI/TRANSPOSE and SPLIT POSITION and then press one of the usual voice buttons, then release all 3 together. I usually hold them a second or two, it seems to take that long to "stick" somtimes. The sounds you should get for each voice button are as follows:-
BUTTON.............SOUND
Piano1...............Solo String
E.Piano1............Timpani/Steel Drum (doesn't always work)
Harpsi................Clarinet
Vibes..................Rock Guitar 2
Guitar.................Accordian
Choir..................Synth Piano
Wood.................Synth Crystal Piano
Sax.....................Harmonica
Pipe Organ.........Bassoon
Piano2................Pizzicato
E.Piano2.............Oboe
Celesta...............Rock Guitar 1
Marimba.............Mute Trumpet
Jazz Guitar.........Horn
Strings...............Synth Vocal
Brass.................Synth Lead
Synth.................Banjo
Jazz Organ.........Harp

Have fun, and DO confirm it works.
Now, where is the best place to download good tunes which make full use of the CVP-70's capabilities?
