Vocal Harmonizer CVP 900

Hi all:

I recently purchased a CVP 900 and can't seem to get enough of it. It is a spectaculor instrument with options so numerous, I don't believe I will ever be able to utilize it to its full potential.

The vocal harmonizer is mind boggling. I noticed, however, that it fails to engage or operate when simply using the mic and keyboard without accompaniment. The manual notes that it doesn't work with Full keyboard, however, I do have full keyboard set and it does work as long as the accompaniment is utilized. Can someone clarify the issue. Is there something I need to do to get it to work when simply playing piano mode alone? I'm not that technical, but I am curious as to why it would not work in the all keyboard mode.

I don't play Full Keyboard, but I'll hazard a guess.

Your instrument needs to know what chord you are playing -- that's what it harmonizes to. If your melody note is G, you can't harmonize without knowing the right chord (C, G7, Am7, etc.).

So take a loot at the chord displayed in the main window. If it's able to decipher a chord under whatever setting you have, it should harmonize.
