I'm a new CVP-205 error and have downloaded some MIDI files from the Internet.
They play fine on my PC -- but when I go to load them on the Clavinova... it shows the song title - but then gives me an error about "not loaded properly"
Any ideas?
I have read that there is much variety of quality on midi files on the web -- so I downloaded several additional variations of the same song (Creed's - One Last Breath ---- for my special needs son) -- and I continue to get that error.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Kate, give me some details about how you're trying to download the file from the internet and how you're trying to upload it into your CVP.

This may not answer your question, but check it anyway.
Put the disk(s) in your computer floppy drive and make sure all the song file names end with .MID or the songs may not play. This is just for starters.

We download the files to the C:\ drive (Windows XP)
then drag and drop to the A:\ disk
When we pop the disk into the 205 --- it automatically reads it -- gives the file name -- and then the error.
and yes -- all files have the .mid extension.
You help is much appreciated -- any other questions -- we'll be happy to answer!
Thanks!

Hi Kate - I went and had a look for the same MIDIs you did (at http://www.musicrobot.com) and found I had the same error message from my CVP as you - the files out there are not suitable for the CVP. However... I loaded them into a MIDI sequencer and resaved them without changes and the format was updated to something that works just fine on the CVP! I have attached the file I think you are looking for. My guess is that if you have a sequencer, you could do the same with any "errant" MIDI file.
Good luck!

thanks! See private response -- in an effort to help others who may follow this thread --- I am looking for software (either software or moderately priced software to use to create MIDI's, adjust MIDI's -- or just "clean up" other MIDI files.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Well, I used a REALLY old thing called Voyetra DOP, which is no longer available o' course (having bought the dang thing a few years back, I should not really have expected support and upgrades huh...) - anyway, Anvil http://www.anvilstudio.com has a free "lite" sequencer that seems to work fine - just try to open the old corrupt file you found before and it notices the problem and offers to fix it - I accepted all it suggsted other than deleting notes longer than one measure (some notes last a long time in that song!).
The "lite" version is for free. There are a LOT of sequencers out there - I'll let anyone else offer opinions on current ones - Yamaha make a reasonable one (the XG Works Suite) but don't expect anything for just a few bucks, I'm afraid...

There is quite a powerful sequencer available from pgmusic.com called PowerTracks Pro Audio 8 which costs US$29 if you buy before Dec 31/03. It is regular US$49.
I cannot vouch for whether it fixes corrupt midi files as I have not had time to check.
PG Music have very good on-line tech support via their website.
It may be well worth a look see. I believe you can also download a demo version to try.
