One of the guys on another board has a sister who is seriously ill. Yesterday a friend of mine, Dave Daniels. wrote lyrics in her honor, and sang them to this song I wrote a few years back. It's called "How Far Forever". I just heard it for the first time last night - I'd like to re-mix it, but it came out pretty well as is, I thought.

Great tune, lovely lyrics, and a nice tribute.

Can't wait to try it out on my piano.

I was surprised to hear the lyrics when I downloaded and listened to it on my PC (great quality too) because there were others that you posted that I understood were to contain the lyrics and didn't. I'm a little confused, but then again, that's what lots of people tell me every day!

Ok. I answered my own question. Now I noticed that the file I downloaded this time was an MP3 and not a MIDI. See, I'm learning!

I'm afraid to ask how you get those vocals onto a file that was at one time a MIDI (I assume) and now ends up in an MP3 format.

Hey I bet Columbus asked lots of questions too!!!

Thanks very much for the kind words! Here's the MIDI if you'd like to play it through your CVP:

After I have recorded my tracks on the CVP, I record from the CVP onto my computer (via the Audio Out jacks), usually a track at a time, then mix it in Cool Edit Pro, and create an MP3 from the mixdown. In this case, my friend grabbed my mp3 from the site it was posted at, recorded a vocal track, and mixed them together (I think he may use Cakewalk, but any multi-track recording software will work just fine). Hope that solves some of the confusion ;)
