It seems my CVP-207 has developed a problem and needs a repair person. Can anyone provide some advice or direction for finding a qualified repair tech? I did not buy my piano locally, so I'm not sure if a local dealer would help or if there are independent services available. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Has anyone needed an electronics related repair on a CVP? If so, how did you solve the problem?

I ordered mine from Steve Loates' Keyboard Centre in Canada - they helped me to find a local repairman. Your dealer might do the same - worth a shot.

Yamaha has a nationwide (probably worldwide) network of certified technicians. The best way to find one is to work through your dealer. I bought my CVP900 from Keyboard Concepts in southern California even though I live up north. When the piano needed a new circuit board (factory bug) the dealer handled everything - located the local tech, prepared the work order and faxed it to them, and stayed on top of the process until the repair was done. Your dealer should be able to (and should!) do the same.
You might be able to locate a local tech by calling Yamaha US directly - I think they're in the Los Angeles area. But the dealer should be your first line of attack.

Thanks Jim for your response,
I will give my local dealer a call. Since I posted my request for info, I was able to locate one keyboard repair guy up in this area. I will see what he has to say. I was surprised to have a problem like this after only having the Clav for a little over one year. Thanks again for you direction.

Most of the CVP repair technicians are freelance, meaning that they work on Yamaha, Technics, Roland, and other keyboards. Most of the dealers use the same technicians. So, you should be able to ask any dealer (Yamaha, Roland, etc.) to get the name and number of a technician in your area.

Thanks Wally for both your responses. I was able to get the name of one tech from a local Yamaha dealer. I might take a peak as you suggested at the cable connections. It seems to happen once things warm up a bit. I'll keep you informed as to the actual problem. Thanks,
Bob
