Hello All and Happy New Year!
As an owner of an old CVP-79a, I am very confused about the voices on later CVPs. Thinking I might upgrade, the other day I went into a store in Connecticut and played what must be a top CVP - It looks like a small grand piano. But I simply could not get the beautiful voices I have on the 79a - the non-zero bank "sweet" voices, like the orchestra and violin 1. (i.e. patch 49, bank 115 or patch 41, bank 112) When I put a disk with my old CVP tunes into the drive, they sounded TERRIBLE! I could not get even a good clarinet.
As I remember, there were so-called sweet voices or something like that on the new machine, but they sound bad too. The sales person did not really seem to know what he was doing. So I am wondering: Are there equivalent voices somewhere on the top CVPs today and how do I fine them?
I have been doing some composing for a local PBS station - and I can give the 79a sounds directly to the engineer to incorporate and air as is. I can't imagine that the latest machines don't have even better voices somewhere. But where? There is no way, if I were to upgrade, that I could use many of these latest voices for pro work.
Any suggestions?
Regards,
