Does anyone know of a MIDI player that will run on a Pocket PC?

Thanks

What a fantastic way to enhance an older CVP, CLP, or any digital or midi piano for that matter!

There's probably a bunch out there, but here's one for PocketPC:

...and here's a really nice one I've been playing with for a Palm:
http://www.ittymidi.com/

The Palm, in it's cradle, sits permanently on top of the piano. I can "beam" songs over infrared or bluetooth to ittyMidi which acts as a great jukebox. I also have a 64Mb SD memory card loaded with all my favorite PianoSoft disks.

If you use your CVP for background music or whatever, this is the perfect way to drive the piano without the need of an ugly PC or an expensive laptop nearby.

I was very interested in the possibility of using a Palm Pilot plus Midi interface (or serial to the Host Direct port of the CVP200 series or higher) to play midi files that are currently on many many floppies - they could all be put on one memory card and played from the Palm using the CVP voices.

I use PCs and Notebooks but have no experience with Palm or Pocket PC.

Can anyone recommend a complete configuration that would work -- most inexpensive Palm models that would allow a serial connection plus the appropriate cable and software (mentioned in the previous posts).

Say, that one bought a Palm dedicated to this purpose; it would NOT need a color screen or built in camera etc. But what would it need to function and which model Palm.

Thanks

Sam,

Look here for a list of palms that support serial output:
http://www.ittymidi.com/compatibility.asp

You'll notice that many of the newer palms can't do serial output because they only have USB hotsync. I don't believe anyone has a USB midi solution for a PDA.

The "no brainer" requirement is a palm with a memory card slot. I have an old m100 that works great with ittyMidi and a "serial to midi" cable -BUT- the m100 can only store a little over 1Mb of songs at a time. This is about as convenient as a floppy disc... so why bother.

Hi Dan

Now how about Yamplayer-PPC? Yamplayer for the Pocket PC.

No only kidding.
