Just purchased a cvp 207.
Can anyone recommend a starting instruction book/disk for a precocious 3rd grader (She is computer literate--is at home with all of these buttons): she is anxious to learn the piano----knows some notes--I believe she is getting hooked deep on the clavinova.
Hope to line up a teacher in a few months but in the interium I'd like to get her started---on a good program-----A book/disk or series.
I can offer her general guidance.
I appreciate your help.

Ray;
I picked up some good info from this site:
http://pianoeducation.org/index.html
Teach me piano (deluxe) is rated high and is $42 @ Amazon
I just purchased eMedia Piano from Amazon @ $52. I am taking lessons and thought I would supplement them with p/c based training.
I have not received the software yet, so I cannot comment on it.
Best of luck...

Ray—
A good book to HELP YOU start your great granddaughter on music would be the "Method Sampler, Books 1-5" book published by Hal Leonard (HL90001803). This goes along with the 50 songs already in the USER area of your CVP if you got the USA Edition Upgrade. Shown within this (free) book would be the Hal Leonard beginning piano books.
Also, I am a piano teacher, and would suggest any of the fine publications by Bastien or Alfred. Many of these books have MIDI disks available that work on your Clavinova. Also, look at:
http://www.yamahamusicsoft.com/
See my complete message on the above book at:

Of course, the largest piano music inventory is show at:

The Hal Leonard web site is at:
http://www.halleonard.com
Every Clavinova owner should bookmark this site and use it frequently, as they publish almost all the Yamaha book/disk combinations; they work as a team with Yamaha as their printed music publisher.
Ray—So that you can get started ASAP with your great granddaughter's piano studies--the beginning piano books mentioned in the "Method Sampler, Books 1-5" book are as follows:
Piano Lessons Bk.1 (HL00296001)
Piano Practice Games Bk.1 (HL00296002)
Piano Theory Workbook Bk.1 (HL00296023)
Piano Solos Bk.1 (HL00296003)
Piano Technique Bk.1 (HL00296105)
Before you order these—first thing you need to do is get the free book, because in the back it lists lots of other things you/she can get, such as the Piano Lessons book with an audio CD, a GM (General MIDI) disk for the Piano Lessons book to play along with on the Clavinova; audio CDs and GM disks for the Piano Technique book and the Piano Solos book; plus a Popular Piano Solos book, audio CD and GM disk.
If you go to the Hal Leonard web site and search by the numbers after the HL, the books above will come up on your screen.
Keep in mind that some piano book publishers begin with "primer level" and some begin with "level 1," so they may not be exactly level interchangeable. The HL level 1 books are actually primer level, so the HL level 2 books will be like Bastien level 1 books, because Bastien starts with primer level.
For anyone at CVPUG who doesn't read music, nothing says that you can't use these books yourself. No one will have to know that you are teaching yourself using kiddy books and actually having fun!

r.d., you posted.."Method Sampler, Books 1-5" book published by Hal Leonard (HL90001803). This goes along with the 50 songs already in the USER area of your CVP if you got the USA Edition Upgrade. Shown within this (free) book would be the Hal Leonard beginning piano books.
I played around on the HL site but was unable to find the free book you spoke of first getting....
I'm eager to look into the advice you suggest...

The "Method Sampler, Books 1-5" (HL90001803) is not shown on the Hal Leonard web site, since it is not a purchased item. You can get it from your local Hal Leonard dealer (any local sheet music dealer). Give them the title and the HL number and have them order it for you at no charge with their next music order.
Start here learning about the Hal Leonard books:

Your great granddaughter will need a good Clavinova-friendly teacher in your area. She will learn well only with a personal teacher; otherwise she will develop incorrect playing habits.
