Everey time I turn my CVP on, I have to go through the same routine to set things up the way I want (in particular, the left pedal).

Lately, if I'm going to be away from the keyboard for only a few hours, I've taken to leaving the power on.

Figuring the CVP is more like a computer than an instrument, I've started wondering, why don't I leave the power on all the time?

What do other people do? Has anyone left the power on for a significant period of time? Any ill effects (other than the power bill)?

I leave my CVP-207 on all the time. One reason I feel comfortable doing this, is that it is on an Uninterruptable Power Supply. The UPS also includes a Surge Filter.

If the power goes out briefly, or there is a manageable surge, the CVP never even sees it. I do live in Florida, the U.S. lightning capital, so this may not be 100% smart. Lightning can get through UPS/surge protectors, I hear. But so far no problems.

I've looked through the manual, and can't find info on how much power it draws. My guess is at maximum, it draws the same as a notebook computer (the processor and LCD screen) plus a stereo (the amplifier).

I keep both of these on all the time. So that's why I also keep on my CVP.

In summary: get a UPS and never have to re-setup the instrument again!

Most electronic equipment failures occur at power-on, so leaving it on might reduce problems.

Most LCD displays dim over time, so you might want to turn the brightness down if you leave it on.

I leave mine on if I'm going to play it every day, otherwise not.

And then there is that power bill!
