Is there a way to use the "any key" feature of Guide without having the piano tracks play the "correct" note when you hit "any key"? I'd like to use the tempo-matching feature while playing the piano part myself and not have to be perfectly accurate in which notes I play.
thanks - jim

Jim, I've read your post about six times and I'm having the hardest time figuring out what it is that you're asking.

Jim,

As I understand it the "any" key allows you to play any key(s) and the CVP will play the note(s) at the correct pitch, so all you have to do is play in time. The other setting requires to to play the right note(s) at the right time, if you dont the CVP will wait for you to catch up.

What you are asking, I think, is whether it is possible to play any key (in time with the tempo) so you hear what you are playing. I dont think you can do this, probably for the simple reason is the music would not sound good if you were playing a whole bunch of wrong notes even if they were in time with the music.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks Howard, you understood correctly what I was asking. When I'm playing at normal tempo I occasionally miss a note (I'm sure I'm unique...:) ). I'd like the Clavinova to keep on going unless I really mess up. There's a program called Home Concert that will do this - keeps moving unless you get so far away from the correct notes that it can't figure out where you are. I was hoping the Clavinova could do the same.

Guess I'll just have to practice until I'm perfect!

Just a quick thought...

Can you not use cue notes on the CVP for this? As I understand it, if you insert cue notes in key locations the CVP will follow along as long as those cue notes are played. I do not have a CVP ( yet ) myself so I can not test this.

Good Luck
