Chat mode (or lack of)

Is there any chance of having a chat mode on this site. This would be most helpful in solving members questions.

Right now there is no chat mode available. I'll look to see if there is a hack out there that might do the trick.

In the meantime, the Private Messaging feature is very good and nearly instantaneous. Maybe you can try that.

I was hoping that the PM would give the recipent a pop-up or something. Right now, unless your are expecting a PM, you do not know you if have recieved one or not. you have to keep cheking. If there was a pop-up to alert you that a message was recieved, that would be good enough. Then when you see that someone is online at the same time you can PM them and hope they respond.

In the User Control Panel, under "Edit Options" there are certain flags you can set that will 1) email you when you get a PM and 2) create a pop-up message when a PM is waiting for you.

I have both set to on. Hence the reason why I thought the PM system was "nearly instantaneous", because it is for me.
