Hi to all here,
I have re-registered on the CVPUG recently as I've now purchased a laptop computer and changed my email address.
Basically I am about to install Cubase SX2 music software on my laptop but am worried my soundcard might not be up to it.
I've connected the laptop to my clavinova very recently using an Eridol USB UM 1 SX midi interface. I have demos of both Sibelius music software and Cubase software. I am managing to use both of these while connected to the midi interface.
I don't think the interface has Asio drivers which are recommended in Cubase particularly for audio rather than midi sound production but I have read that if you have DirectX in microsoft Windows XP that can be an alternative. I realise this might not be the right forum for this question but I feel it's relevant since I'm using the clavinova to sequence via the software. I'm currently studying both packages at the City Lit in London and the tutor for Cubase advised on the midi interface but not about the question of a suitable soundcard. We got a connection for Cubase by setting it to 'XG instruments', which the clavinova has, of course. Has anyone here got experience of these connections?
If so, any advice would be welcome. In particular on how to integrate the clavinova's accompaniments etc with Cubase and how to set everything up between the computer and the clavinova for midi. I'm more or less a novice on that subject -just learning as I go along. Also, last night I tried to install DirectX 9 drivers but can't see them now listed in my computer. Should I be able to? These are supposed to help with audio, amongst other things.
Best wishes,
Sheila Wilson(UK)
