Hi there, first time posting here.

Me and my wife have been looking to buy a digital piano for some time and had just about decided on either the CVP-210 or the CVP-900. Then I heard about the new 300 series.

From what I have found they are going to discontinue the 200 series...according to this website which is already selling the 300's and claims to have discountinued the 200's http://www.musicalinstrumentmegastore.co.uk/itmidx28.htm

So do you think this means that the CVP-900 will be discontinued and also what are the main differences. I know I have read about the USB and external hard drives... but what about sound quality?? the most important thing?

People have mentioned the word TYROS being included.... can someone explain to me what this means...is it a new sound type? or what?

ANY info would be great :)

The TYROS is a portable keyboard that has a feature set and user interface that are very similar to the CVP. The TYROS does not have a full 88-key keyboard.

thanks for your reply,

so when people were mentioning the TYROS they were just talking about the changes to another type of keyboard? or something from that keyboard being put into the 300 series?

And has anyone been able to hear a comparison? is there any word on whether or not the sample quality is improved?

One thought I had too was it might be possible to get a cvp-900 for cheaper right before the 300s come out if they are discontinuing it. Any word on whether the 900 is being dicontinued?

I would imagine the CVP900 will be discontinued eventually in favor of the 300 series electronics in a mini-grand case, but it may take awhile. The 900 (which I have) came out well after the 200 series, I think at least a year. You might get a deal on a 900 once its successor is out.

The CVP-900 replacement would appear to be the CVP-309GP (Grand Piano, presumably). The downloadable 309 manual describes it in detail.

If you google for CVP-309GP you'll find stores with pricing and everything. That, of course, doesn't mean it is actually available yet. ;)

The new model designation is much less confusing than CVP-210 vs. CVP-900.

Oh, and as for TYROS, all of the sounds from TYROS are included in the CVP-300 series.

Alright, so it does seem less confusing to just add the GP.

Regarding the Tyros sounds being included, are these sounds higher quality then the ones that are currently included with the 210 or the 900? or are the just additional too them?

I havnt ever seen a Tyros so I dont know about the quality of the sound samples...any info would be great :)

I own both the Tyros and a CVP. These are two totally different instruments. I believe the OS is the same, but the Tyros is a professional model keyboard, not all 88 keys. I call it my "Clavinova on wheels". It has a lot of the same features as a CVP, but has different/better/updated sounds than the 200, but some of the same 200 plus sounds (even #200CVP's).

Don't know about the 300 having Tyros sounds, if it did that would be great, cuz they are GREAT !!

I think we should remember that the CVP series has the Natural Piano Voices. These are very high quality long samples with string resonance, sustain and other special effects for the Piano voices. On the higher range CVPs there are 128 notes of polyphony for these voices alone, in addition to the polyphony for the XG and panel voices. So there is a fundamental difference in the total polyphony and in the quality of the piano voices. This is not a small difference at all. Try playing the Live Piano voice on the CVP and the Natural Piano voice and see the difference. The Tyros does NOT have the Natural voices. In addition, it is not a piano type keyboard.

The CVP 900 is a grand Piano Style and came with Natural keyboard! But the new CVP 309 came with the sound quality and effects of the CLP 170!!!!! Be care only has some features of Tyros!

Good choice! (Ihope you can understand my English!)
