Hi, I have just ordered a CVP 309 GP (the new baby grand). I tried out a CVP 307 at a dealer but decided to pay extra for the 309. I can't wait. I am not an accomplished player ! and have switched from KORG. The Roland KR 15M was about twice the price of a 309 with only half the capability !

Did you order this internationally as I was told the 309gp would not be available in the US for quite some time (well into 2005)?

Do you mind sharing what price you paid?

Hi Peter

What was it about the 309 that made you prefer it to the 307 ?

Was there a difference in the sound or touch, or was it mainly the appearance ?

Hi Jeremy, I was going to buy a Roland KR15M baby grand when I had a second look and tryout of the 309. There's not much difference between the 307 & 309 other than a higher speaker output, the keyboard keys are the same as the Yamaha acoustic grand natural wooden keys (my son is progressing through the grades for classical music and I wanted him to have the same touch as the accoustic piano at school that he practices on). There are a few other "gimmicky" differences, like the automatic moving keys (!!) etc.

As I have the space for it at home, we all did actually like the look of the baby grand as opposed to the 307 look. The polished ebony was also a consideration.

(and...I was told...un-officially, off the record...by a yamaha employee that the 309 was euivalent inside to about 3 - 4 tyros(s) in terms of performance capability and capacity......
