I am relatively new to this forum and enjoy it very much. I hope this is not a question that has been asked over and over. I have a CVP 207. Is it possible to make or get a hard copy, on paper, of the songs listed in the Music Finder? Thanks in advance.

Hi
First of all can I suggest you download the Music Finder View program from:
http://www.svpworld.com/util_mfdview.htm
This has a PRINT function as well as a host of others. You can sort, edit, add and delete enteries.
It will also convert Music Finder Databases from different CVPs.
All you have to do is save the database that is in your CVP and save it to a floppy then load it into Michael's program.
BTW
Do you know you can get databases that have the correct titles.
If you need any then let me know.
As yet I do NOT have them for the 300's but I do have all of the others.
CVP 203, 205, 207, 209, 204, 206, 208, 210, USA209 and Tyros

Midi Magic: Thanks for the quick reply and excellent information. I will give it a try for sure. I am wondering about the terminology: Music Finder View. I don't see the word "View" used anywhere in the material supplied with my 207. It is only referred to as Music Finder. Does that make a difference? When I first got the 207 it lacked the USA edition and I was confused by the strange song titles. Yamaha support in California loaned me the disk to install the USA edition and I now have the correct titles for songs. I have had the instrument since April and am still totally knocked out by it's capabilities. Am learning something new every time I sit down with it. Thanks again.

Hi
The "View" is what the program does. It is a program that lets you "View" the contents of the Music Finder database. It is just what Michael called it.
I would have thought they would have given you a copy of the disk. All you need to do is the save the Music Finder File from the CVP to a floppy and then load it into the Music Finder View program.
If you need anymore help just let me know.

Midi Magic: First of all, a confession. I am just a shade above computer illiterate. You probably gave me explicit directions on how to accomplish the task but I missed something I guess. I went to the site that you suggested and downloaded the Music Finder View. What I got was a form with lines, columns, headings and all but no song titles included. What I'm trying to end up with is a printed list of the song titles in my 207 Music Finder so that I can refer to that hard copy rather then having to search for a song. Am I on the right track? I have to be away from my computer for the next week but will get back to it next week. Thanks for your help so far. Am going to Nashville for a reunion and to listen to some country music. Not my first choice in music but I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Almost anything live is good.

Hi
Yes that is correct. Now all you need to do is to save the Music Finder file from the CVP.
1 Get a blank floppy
2 Switch on CVP and press "Function"
3 Now press "Utility"
4 Press the "Back" key until you have the "System Reset" tab highlighted.
5 Now press "Music Finder"
6 You should now see a file called "MusicFinderPre~
7 Press "Copy" then "OK"
8 Now press the "Next" button to select the Floppy Disk
9 Now you can backup your file to disk by pressing "Paste"
You should now have a floppy with the MF database on it.
Run the MF view program and go to "Open File" Select your file from the A: drive and all of the MF enteries will load in.
From here you can Add, Sort, Delete etc and of course you can Print.
Hope this all makes sense. It seems hard to follow but realy is quite simple.
If you have the disk from Yamaha with the Music Finder files already on then you can use that.
Good Luck

Mike,
You mentioned that you have the Finder for the CVP 208, but the *dat file in included with your new MFinder list, but I cannot seem to have your file get this or I cannot read it. Is there a secret?
I do have the CVP 208, so is it easier for me to download it from the Clavinora?
Thanks,
Joyce

Joyce,
The Clavinova does not have *.dat files. Music Finder files have an extension of *.mfd.
The *.dat files are part of the Music Finder View program. The program uses them to convert styles from one instrument to another.
If you need these files, download and unzip the MFView program. The files come with it.

Thanks, Fred,
I am so new with the CVP208, but I am slowly learning the features, etc. When I get a little more familiar with it, I will download the MF to disk so that I have it.
