Hello all,

This is my first post to this board, but I have followed along for a while and have been impressed with the openess and warm attitudes here.

This may have been asked before, but does the grand piano cabinet style sound any better than the uprights. That is, 309GP vs regular 309.

Also, from a practical standpoint, does the GP cabinet take up substancially more space that you would reccomend going with an upright format, if space is a little tight. Currently, I'm in a moderately sized apartment, but hope to own the instrument for a long time.

many thanks,

Hi!

I have a 309GP, but not a 309 so I can't compare them both (I think it'll be hard to find anyone who can do that). However I had a 208, and the piano sound is definitely much fuller on the 309GP.

Since the 309GP has a resonance chamber, it should make the sound fuller and above all more "present in the room" than with the 309. It certainly sounds almost like the real thing in the room (depending of course on the reverb and dsp settings), without having to connect extra speakers. I guess the iAFC functionality helps with that as well. Remember to calibrate it though! And with the GP model the lid HAS to be open for the iAFC to work as the speakers are there.

The dimensions are w 143.5 cm (56-1/2 in), d 114.7 cm (45-1/8 in, h 90.7 cm (35-11/16 in) (lid closed). Or in other words, it is the same as a Baby Grand, only half as deep (which would be good in a small apartment).

Brgds
