Ok Poeples,

I have just got my CVP-205 to talk to my computer and now have two questions I need answering (among the many questions I have about midi)

Question number one is do software programs such as cakewalk home studio allow you to change settings in the mixing console? settings such as what instruments to use etc.

My second question is can the score of a midi file I play through my laptop be displayed on the screen of the CVP so I can play-along? If so how would I do this?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Nathan :)

1. Yes - Cakewalk is a full featured sequencer. Changing voices (or patch assignments) is a fundamental feature. Try right-clicking on the track/channel you want to change. (I haven't used Cakewalk in years so I'm not sure exactly).

2. No - the score on the CVP works only with its internal sequencer. That would be a neat trick if the CVP could interpret the incoming midi on the fly. Keep a scratch floppy handy and use YAMplayer - from the playlist you can right click and choose "send to floppy" and then it's a sneaker-net away from the CVP's screen.
