I'm looking to purchase my first CVP for the family. Considering the CVP303. Trying to understand how the new IDC feature works. Do you have to purchase songs that are downloaded from the Yamaha site? If so, what is the range of pricing? I registered on the Yamaha IDC site to attempt to see selection and how it works. The site requires a credit card and I was not able to see a selection. I suppose you have to view from the CVP only. Can the downloaded files be shared? Thanks

I have just gone through this also with a new 307 - and hit the same - a request for a credit card in order to purchase the connection facility and no indication of costs or pricing structure or indeed what you may get for the money - seems like a blank cheque request! Not signed up as yet.

I am having difficulty getting my machine to get any internet connection period - the question now being is this because I havent 'purchased' the facility or is it some other technical problem with my network connection? All my other wireless setup works fine - including the USB wireless adapter I am using on the cvp.

Fortunately there is plenty else to be doing with a new machine.

I have decided to get midi files free from the internet or other sources - some of which are good and play well.

I am transferring them onto a pc - then using a USB memory stick to transfer them - the cvp accepts the stick ok and after copying and pasting , on pressing 'song select' the midi files can be seen.

I have put on a small usb hub (manual says need to be powered) this hopefully will save wear on the single usb device port and a bit easier to get at. Works fine.

I am still working out this IDC thing so if I become any the wiser will let you know.

Regards

If you get the clavinova connected online first you will get some idea of what idc provides and previews of the songs - they appear to about be 4 or 5 US dollars each. There are also contact details and a phone number for customer support offering advice on IDC issues.

I just got connected today so still getting the hang of it - looking on the forums there are some expressions of disappointment with the offerings however.

What's the address of the IDC website?

Can you connect to it directly with a PC?

Thanks

On another thread the was a reply from count JS saying

'there is not a subscription - you only pay for the file... you need to set-up credit card info on the site, and then thru IDC, your card will be only charged for the files you download... no hassles...'

There are some free files but most seem to be between 3-5 US dollars each. You have to had registered to download the free files i think.

I cannot see a URL on the screen for the site - so not sure if it can be accessed from a PC - If I find it I will post it here
