Record while following the lights!!

This is a really big wish of mine -- has been since I bought my first CVP!

I am frequently finding MIDI files that I'd like to improve in various ways. For example, I might want to replace the piano track with my own playing, but keep the backing tracks intact. So, I'd like to use the "Follow the Lights - Next Note" feature from the existing piano track (so that I can use it to play along) but record my playing onto another empty track.

I REALLY REALLY wish I could do this.

Just an idea

What if you use a sequencer program on the computer.
Assighn the keyboard to the midi out, play the song on the cvp while recording one track on the computer
After that play the recorded track on the computer and record it on the cvp.
