Hay, call me real stupid. I just got a brand new CVP-301 and I bought a bunch of pre-made 3 1/2 disks. They work fine. But now I want to get some free stuff off the web, I guess you can do it, so people have told me.

I have the tutorial that CVPUG has provided and have followed the advice. I not that the author said that his playing these files on the machine seem to be a non- issue. Well it is a little mor than that for me!!!!

I went to the MIDI files on the web, the places that CVPUG says are good. I got a couple of songs over to the 3 1/2 disk but when I went to the CVP nothing...it doesen't sound like it is even reading them...I know something is on the disk because it plays what I downloaded on the computer, so something is on the disk.

I am such a dummy, I have a hard enough time with the computer let alone attempting to get free music. Some smart person out there will probably snap a answer out in 2 seconds. I do not have the CVP on line. My computer is on another floor.....what in the world do I do to solve this? Anyone that knows please help this unwashed dummy......:(

Hi Dan

I suspect that your disk is still empty.
Try it again.

Find a midifile on the web, now if you klick left on it the computer will play the file for you but it is not on the disk yet.
If you now klick the right mousebuttom on the link take 'save as' and select the 3 1/2inch drive to save to.
Now the midifile will be on the disk.
You can verify it by dubbelclick on 'my computer' and then '3 1/2inch drive' to see if the file is realy on the disk.
Now put the disk in the 301 and goto 'song --> diskdrive' and you'll be able to select and play the song.

The names I use may be a bit differend on you computer cos mine runs a windows XP dutch edition

Good luck Dan

Kind regards

Eric

when you say it doesnt sound like its reading - its make me wonder if your drive is connected/functioning - as you insert the floppy into the drive does it click, spin and the floppy drive light come on? - normally would I think.

I will try and load some midi stuff by floppy (still learning myself) and see how it goes.

I loaded loads of midi files via a USB memory stick but not tried by floppy yet.

I copied a midi file onto floppy from my pc (1st attempt just put a shortcut rather than the full file - ? check full files are on the floppy not shortcuts to files)

put floppy into clavinova floppy drive - clicks , green light comes on and floppy spins.

pressed song select and used the arrow buttons on the right of screen to tab to USB1 (last tab)- the clavinova read the floppy and could see the midi file.

Seemed to work ok

hope this is some help.
