As some of the other members of the club are asking how one activates this feature in our 209s I am one of the same unfortunates who are still trying to figure all the features...However as Wally was asking if and who of us were using Karaoke.. I see that Yamaha are putting out some software to sing along at Christmas for our pianos.. I would like to use this feature providing it changed the voice to the correct pitch and perhaps the quality of the singing.. I understand this is an available technology.. I do at presant have a screeching feed back from my presant set up ,, the mic is an AKG D72S and just plugged into the box below the keyboard and I find the volume inadequate.. any friendly advice would be gratefully taken

You don't say exactly what you are having problems with, so if I'm addressing areas you've already solved, I apologize:
1. Hook up the 209 to your TV using the video out port.
2. Select a song, press Start (song Start, not Sync Start), then press Lyrics (:B:). The lyrics should be displayed with the current syllable being highlighted as it plays.
3. If not, if's likely your midi file does not have lyrics built in. Try Jingle Bells under Christmas in the Preset area. It defnitely has lyrics.
3. Make sure Video Out is set properly. Go to Function>Video Out, and set NTSC or PAL as appropriate (NTSC is generally used in North America, PAL elsewhere). Also, you can set the Screen Contents to Lyrics here. This will always display lyrics on the TV, allowing you to fiddle around with the 209's display without affecting the lyrics displayed on the TV.
4. Set the Mic balance to 100. The default is 50, which causes you to turn up the volume too high, causing feedback. If you are still getting feedback, try adjusting the equalization settings (Mic Setting button). There's a good discussion of equalization settings at www.psrtutorial.com/resources/articles/vocalsettings.html
5. To correct your pitch, you need to have Vocal Harmony turned on, and you need to select the proper VH Type. VocodorPichL and VocodorPichU are the only ones I know of which by default correct the pitch. You can change any of the others to correct the pitch by using Editing the effect, and changing Lead Pitch to "Correct".
Hope this helps.
