Hi!

Although my earlier disappointing experiences with IDC (BTW countJS I still have not received a reply from them about a new International site for registering) and MusicSoft, I bought a collection of songs I had to have, for 32 USD.

However, it is in PSX format which neither the PC nor the CVP recognises. What is that exactly?? Do I HAVE to have the CVP connected, can't I just copy the file across??? I can no longer connect it to the PC at all, when I try I get a blue screen crash on the PC. I have some very important files on it so I don't want to fiddle around with it.

I've mailed them and asked, but after 4 days there has been no reply. They probably remember me from the registration issues before and are ignoring me as the stupid idiot bastard I am.

I do however want the songs now! I don't appreciate having paid for something without being able to use it. Please, any suggestions?:(

Danny,

I've never heard of a PSX file type.

From whom did you buy the songs? Is this an IDC site you're hitting from the PC browser?

If you don't have IDC working, you should be buying the songs from YamahaMusicSoft. In which case they would download as zip files or go straight to a floppy via the Yamaha downloader.

HI
International site going live in Feb... baby steps.

the .psx is a protected (encrypted) file. Did you also download the musicsoft downloader? You need that, plus either a floppy or a smart-media loaded into your computer. The file is downloaded directly into the media device, and then you have to physically take the media and insert it into the Clav, for best results. I think you can do it directly to the newer Clav's with the downloader as well.

Send me a PM with your email address and I will forward it to my pals at YMS.

Ho Ho Ho,

Hi!

Yes, finally they contacted me and I was very happy about the reply, it was curteous as well.

I did not know you could use the Downloader to save to diskette; I've only used it once and then I downloaded straight into the CVP. I will try doing it to diskette, which should then work. Or actually I'll probably use a USB memory stick instead.

The PSX format is the protected format for DiskClavier, and there have been other threads here about the protection and how that means you can't back it up; Well, in the reply she cryptically said that they are working on a solution to it.

Hi!

It worked to install the PSX to diskette using the Downloader, but not to other memory devices, they are not supported :-( Besides it formats the diskette as part of the process so you can't have anything else on it...

The reason I didn't realise you could save to diskette is that the Downloader first pops up with an error message saying that the CVP isn't connected and asks for the location. Besides, on the very first page of the help text for Downloader it says "In order to use this software your computer must be connected to the internet and to a compatible musical instrument via USB or MIDI.". Which as I've now found, is not true.
