Hi All

The time has come, I have seen and heard a new keyboard. So my MINT condition CVP 209 is up for sale.
I am looking for offers of over £2,000.

Isn't it fun...! Hope you will still be a CVP user group contributor...?

Should we assume you are considering another CVP...?

Hi All

Well no, not a CVP, dare I say, not even a Yamaha.

It's the new Roland G-70

http://www.roland.co.uk/prodcatdetail.asp?id=G-70

(sorry for putting a link to a Roland site on this group)

You see it is like this:

1. I never realy got past "Tune a day" book 1 (that means I can't play the thing very well) But I do love the sound of a good piano and by using Dan's Yamplayer I can play it from the PC.

2. It takes up quite a lot of room in the room it is in. The Roland has only 76 notes and is a lot smaller. As I can't play very many notes at a time 76 is not a problem. (12 less to worry about)

3. The sounds are a lot better IMHO and of course it is bang up to date. It also has an awesome Vocal Harmoniser.

4. I sing in a choir and although we hire an orchestra, there are times when we need extra intruments. Harpsicord, Harp, Bells etc. The Roland is portable-ish, more so than the CVP so we could use it for concerts. At present we use a tiny Yamaha sound module.

I also have a Technics KN5000 doing nothing, so that's up for sale as well.

Mind you, I have to get all this passed by my financial adviser (wife) fisrt.

As for leaving the group, NEVER. Having made so many friends here I would miss you all and I would still be here to help out, if and when I can.

MM,

Thanks for the plug! Remember, YAM doesn't necessarily stand for Yamaha - so if you discover any Roland specific features you'd like to see added... let me know.

Look forward to hearing from you in the "Non-Clavinova Piano Discussions" forum ;)

Hi!

Hear hear. Please don't leave the group, your replies have always been accurate and well put. Even if you leave the Y community as such (although I have to say that the Roland keyboard you're going for would not have satisfied myself).

Brgds

Hi All

Thank you all, for your kind words.

I spent most of today looking and playing with the roland. Well I must say the phrase "Fools rush in........" springs to mind. Having listened to it with ME playing and NOT the very talanted salesman (who could even make a Casio sound great) I have deceided to keep my CVP. The Roland only had one playable piano, all the rest sounded like my old Roland Canvas. (a very old sound module).

So, I will NOT be leaving the group, at least, not for a long time yet.

I think a wise decision. Glad you will still be with us.

My wife and I were invited to a friend's house for coffee to day and especially to see her new Roland digital piano keyboard (with 76 keys). I can't recall the model number.

I think it would be Roland's equivalent to one of Yamaha's series, but it did not have the keyboard feel or the sound equal to the CLP or CVP. Also I found it awkward to play the shorter keyboard, I seemed to be playing in the wrong position somehow.

It was very nice and on it's own with no other to compare it will suffice nicely for our friend as she is a learner. I am glad I have my CVP. I believe she also got it for a decent price.

I agree with Ian's "wise decision". I play a Roland at my church and I hate it! It's not user friendly and doesn't compare at all with Yamaha or Technics. The 200 series are great and the new 300s are awesome! Of course, that's just my opion!

I'm glad to see you'll still be with us!
