I have recently bought a CVP-207. I want to download MIDI files to play but am afraid to do so because there are so many warning in the instruction book. Does anyone have any advice? Also I bought an M-Audio MIDI Sport Uno MIDI interface. Should that be OK? Can someone reassure me that I am not going to harm my wonderful instrument.

Hi

Do'nt worry, its not possible to harm your instrument with a midifile.
It is possible to harm the midifile, keep a copy on your computer just in case.
You do'nt need a midi interface to play downloaded midifiles on a 207, just copy the files from your computer on to a disk and insert the disk in the cvp.
Before connecting midicables (or any other cables) to your cvp, turn the power off
If you mix up midicables connections, no harm will come to the cvp it simply will not work.

Kind regards

What specific "warnings" are you referring to?

I'm not aware of any dangers in playing midi files - Unless you strangle yourself in the wires or try to eat the floppy disk, I think it's perfectly safe (for you and your new baby) :D

I have the same Midisport Uno and it works great.

Midi jacks have an opto-issolater that protects it from any "head banger" plugging in the wrong wires. My suggestion is to relax and use your CVP for what it's intended to do.

Go ahead and download! I got a 204 the day after Thanksgiving and have a bunch of great midi's that I'm am really enjoying! I've gotten most of them from the Yamaha Music Soft site, so you can rest assured they will work and not cause harm.
