Hi All

I have a quiz for you.

Whilst I was at a friends house today, I wanted to show him how I connect my PC to the CVP and to show off Dan's program.
So I used my laptop and USB Midi interface and pluged in a midi lead to his CVP. Set a song playing and then NOTHING, no sound from the CVP. I checked that I was in the MIDI IN and also changed the midi lead.
Still nothing.
He also has a KN5000 so I connected the CVP's THRU to the KN5000's IN.
The KN played fine but still no sound from the CVP.
I checked the CVP's midi settings plus I turned the CVP on and off a few times.

Now the CVP's midi IN socket must be working ok as it passed the midi data on to the THRU socket and on to the KN.

Time was running out, so I had to leave, but having got home I have now found the answer.

Can anybody work out what was wrong.

There is a VIRTUAL prize for the first correct answer.
Good Luck

Hi midi magic,

Strange scenario indeed - the sound was going through the CVP to the KN5000, but nothing coming out of the CVP... So that rules out that Yamplayer wasn't configured to send to the correct midi device. Indeed it pretty much rules everything out on the PC side.

Uhm, let's see... the volume wasn't turned up on the CVP? :D Nah, too obvious... :p

Glad you got it worked out. Next time you go over, I'm sure he'll be impressed! Can't wait to hear the real answer.

Did you set the correct Midi channel and Midi template on the CVP?

Hi

Yes I went to the Midi set-up page and all was ok. When I went to the Midi Receive page there was NO midi indication coming in to the CVP.

Hi All

Eric has it spot on.

"The little swith was set "to host"

I don't know what the switch was set to as I left before checking. When I got home I moved the switch and the same thing happened.
But why, if the switch was set to any other thing then Midi did it pass the midi on to the KN?

It would seem that the switch tells the CVP to listen to the Host or Midi and the sockets still carry on doing their own thing.

Well done Eric and to all of you who knew it.
