Can anybody tell me something about the IDC content? Does Yamaha under IDC offer other songs or styles than on the yamahamusicsoft website?
I am asking because IDC for me would be complicated, because my DSL is too far away from the instrument, I would need a cable of 10 metres to connect it to the DSL box, and I donīt want to change to wireless LAN because of a content which I can also download on the Yamahamusicsoft website and I find, that the content there is not very usefull.:(

Hi!
Where on earth is the Count? He hasn't said a word for a long time even though there has been a lot of talk about IDC.
Andreas, I was in exactly the same quandery. And like you, I thought that YamahaMusicSoft was crap, and believed that IDC was just a version of MusicSoft, optimised for the CVP screen and controls.
However, the Count said it wasn't. In his usual manner he said it was much better, and was going to be even better. I still insisted that I don't want to buy something unseen and suggested they create a Flash demonstrating the details and functionality of IDC, or better yet a version of it that can be read with a normal browser. Then it is much easier to decide if you want to buy the necessary equipment and go through the hassle of setting it up. He especially liked the Flash idea and was going to take it up with Marketing.
Meanwhile I've decided to do it anyway, as presumably firmware updates will come that way in future, and WiFi is certainly the way of the future; I have some other wireless gadgets I've been wanting so I'll just go for it.

Hi Danny,
thanks for your information. Please keep me informed, whether it is worth to make some investment on IDC or not. My main question is: What kind of midifiles do they have in there content, what kind of style or voices which I do not get through musicsoft.

I've said it before: there would be NO REASON for Yamaha to limit and create exclusive content for IDC. That would just alienate all of us older series owners - UNLESS it's some kind of interactive content.
Here is a direct quote from CountJS from a previous thread:
...all of the new smash hit MIDI files that are popping up weekly on IDC, are also available for individual download at music soft.
They're also working on exclusive (mostly educational) content but he calls it "super secret" content.
For your reference, this was the thread:

I guess he's been too busy working on that "super secret" stuff to keep up with the group.
