Dear All,

When uploading MIDI files & the like onto the CVP's, is there a risk for downloading viruses in the process? If so, is there any way to protect your Clavinova?

Regards,
Sarah

To date, I am not aware of any virus that can infect a midi file in such a way that it can harm your data or your hardware. The risk is so small that it is not worth even a passing thought...

An interesting question...

I would trust all the commercial (Clavisoft, etc.) diskettes - but I just need to trust somebody.

I wouldn't move any other MIDI file onto a CVP without trying it with a PC- based player - if vanBasco's program says a file is corrupt, I wouldn't want to torture my CVP with it!

I don't know what that leaves, except the "firmware updates".
I downloaded the update for our 303, and Norton Anti-virus has no problem with the five files included; but the Norton people have probably never heard of a Clavinova.

Any other responses out there?

Hi

Just to say, I have NEVER heard of any virus within a midi file.

However there are sysex and bank commands in some midi files that could cause your cvp to do funny things, such as select voices that you don't have. This would cause the cvp not to play sounds on certain tracks.

When you turn ON your cvp it carries out a self test and resets it's self. So anything you did before, you turned it off, will be reset.
