Hi!
I have tried the CLP175 digital piano and are seriously impressed by the sound and feel (not at least the keyboard!).
But considering the extra possibilities that the CVP series offer, the CVP309 GP version also gets attention, but I haven't tried this yet.
A very important point for me is the "Grand Piano" sound & feel.
Does anybody know whetner the CVP309 has exactly the same functionality in this area as the CLP175? Or is the CLP175 even better?

Hi btjensen,
here you can easily compare those two topmodels
http://music.yamaha.com/productComparison.html?productId=4&productId=83&groupId=18
the wavecapacity for the pianovoice of the CLP175 is 35MB, for the CVP 309 it is not specified. May be, that the pianovoice of the CLP is a little bit better, but believe me, the Grandpiano of the CVP309 is so realistic and so expressive, you canīt get a more realistic Grandpianosound out of a Digitalpiano, but with the stylesection of the CVP you get an enomous amount of Playing possibilities ... so if you like to play with a live band, you should try the CVP...

Thanks for the info.
Yes, I assume that Yamaha would not sacrifice the piano sound in the CVP, especially since the price level is significantly higher.
The "Wife acceptance factor" is high :) for both the CLP175 and the CVP309 GP. These "Baby Grand" chassis look gorgeous in any living room as long as you have space enough. (The CVP309 gets a slight minus for the key cover when closed as far as I can see from pictures).
It's really fun to have an orchestra available at any time. The question is if it is worth the extra money to get the "bells& whistles" that the CVP provides. I have considered putting an older laptop on top of the CLP width the XG sound set to get more fancy sequencer functionality, but that again wouldn't look good at all...
By the way, does anybody know if there's a standard OS (Windows, Linux) within the CVP that could be subjbect to virus attacks when connected to the internet?

I would consider buying a CVP307 if you want accompaniment and recording with mixingconsole like in a real studio. The CVP307 has the same soundengine, sounds and styles like the CVP309GP it only differs in the outfit and it costs 500Euro less than the CLP175. If you want ebony finish, take the CVP309PE, that will cost you 1000Euro more than a CLP175, but its worth the extramoney, because you get a full homerecording studio with a big display, mixingconsole and so on, which you donīt get with a CLP. And extra Styles from a sequenzer arenīt comparable with the CVP possibilities; you will see, when you test it. Besides that you have a lot more panelvoices in the CVP (468 without XG), whereas you only have 38 within the CLP.

I myself had a multi-setup for a while (P250 with the CLP sounds and QY70 sequenzer) but with my CVP 307 I have an all-in-one-solution and thatīs it!
But if you want only to play a goodlooking digitalpiano without accompaniment, well the CLP175 will be the best you can get...
Concerning the virus problem you will find some discussion in this thread

But forget about the internetdirect connection, it only gives you the possibility to prehear midifiles over the CVPs voices, all the content is nearly the same than on musicsoft, which you get from your computer. And there is so much free stuff around here, I wouldnīt pay too much for yamahas midifiles...
