Someone knows where I can find the original styles of the CVP-309? I want to compleet the styles on my CVP-305. I've already downloaded the styles from the TYROS and they work fine on my 305. But I'm still looking for the 78 'missing' CVP-309 styles...

BTW all TYROS styles you can find here: http://www.musiciansroom.net/Styles/StylesTyros/TyrosOriginal/default.aspx

Thanks!

All the 307-309 styles are also on "Musiciansroom" under "Contributions" and then "styles". You can also get the Tyros "Premium styles" there.

http://www.musiciansroom.net/Contributions/ContributionsStyles/default.aspx

The 307 and 309 styles are the same. It is listed as "307 internal styles". It is a large file as it contains all the keyboard styles.

Sometimes, you have to connect again the USb Flash drive, because the CVP hasn't read correctly the content.

But in a lot of cases, what you describe happens because you are selecting the USB form the window of the songs, so that the CVP shows the forlder empty, because it's looking for files wit the .mid extension.

And the same happens when you look for a song via USB from the window of the styles.

You can also visit the web http://psrtutorial.com/
There are a lot of Styles from different keyboards. You can download some of them wholly free in the link http://psrtutorial.com/Files/KBother.html . The ones of KORG and TECHNICS are really good.

But you have also the possibility of buying a CD- ROM that contains 6.117 STYLE FILES, more than 4.500 songs (midi files), VOICES, MUSIC FINDER Databases, and other utilities really interesting.

The price is really cheap, (24 $, that helps to assure the maintenance of the web). I bought it 2 weeks ago and have just received it last Monday, and is amazing.
As the CVP’s 3xx has USB to device, I will connect a USB Hard Drive with all those contents.

You can see an Index of the contents of the CD-ROM in the link http://psrtutorial.com/charter.html

The web is made for Tyros and PSR users, but, as you know, the CVP’s 3xx are wholly compatible with Tyros.

You can also visit in this forum the thread “Style for CVP, in the link http://www.cvpug.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=813

Ericho and Tomz17 offer a link to download directly a zip file with + - 3.400 styles.
The link is http://s88002311.onlinehome.us/pogingtwee.zip

thankyou Sig but how does one remedy what you are saying about it looking for mid ext. files ie.how do I go about getting cvp to read from the usb flash?I checked the files and they are called midi sequence files. and yes I am selecting usb from window of styles,is this incorrect ?where should I select them from?
Ok I just found by pressing the song button after I have gone to the usb folder and it shows say rock folder it allows me to play a list of songs although on the score its only showing the bass clef notes. hmm.

I have since discovered that they all seem to be songs and not Styles? On the website via the link it says they are the 307 internal Styles yet they all look like songs files?

Also it seem that the CVP only reads the top file and it will show and play its contents but the other folders on the flash drive are shown as empty?

thanks

Hi Caspar

If you visit the web http://www.musiciansroom.net/Contributions/ContributionsStyles/default.aspx , where you downloaded the cvp 307 styles from, you will see at the right of the link CVP 307 Internal Styles, another link “11 comments Add/View (http://www.musiciansroom.net/Contributions/ContributionsStyles/674.aspx)

If you click in it, you will see two comments by bigisice62 that explain how to solve the problem. These comments are:

"CVP 307 STYLES IN PSR2100 By bigice62 on miércoles, 27 de octubre de 2004 (EST)
All styles are in .PRS format. If you require .sty you must delete the .prs and replace it with .sty in each style. Bigice62"

"CHANGING .PRS TO .STY By bigice62 on viernes, 29 de octubre de 2004 (EST)
All the new boards (Tyros, 3000, CVP 3**) now use PRo Styles. (PRS) All you need to do to change these to .sty is load them on your desktop of your computer. Place your mouse curser on the individual style. When the style data comes up in blue, double click on the data. It will now show you can change information by outlining the blue field. Double click again and it will switch to a white field that will let you make individual letter corrections. Backspace .prs and retype in .sty. The style will change instantly to one usable in your keyboard. The styles for the Tyros and the 3000 are in the same format in the keyboard. I hope this helps. Bigice62."

In order to the other problem you have described, when you say that the score its only showing the bass clef notes, you can visit in this forum http://www.cvpug.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=4330#post4330

I suspect that when you downloaded the files, your version of Windows automatically identified the style files as MIDI files. It probably appended the ".mid" extension on all the downloaded files. I also suspect that you have "Hide extensions for known files types" checked in your Folder Options in Windows. You should turn that off by unchecking that box. This will allow you to see the true file names on your computer. You will likely see that when you downloaded them, your computer named them "style.sty.mid". You can now rename them on your computer by deleting the final extension. They will now end in .sty and your CVP will recognize them as styles when you load them.

i did as you said on folder options and it does now call them styles but cant open them because it doesnt recognise the file ext?
How the hell do files that were complete songs become styles just by changing file name? weird lol

Thanks tomtomsf.

I have the same problem too. When I looked at the downloaded style files, they are all ended with "sty.mid". One interesting thing is that you can actually played these mid files on your computer and they soound quite ok.

I tried to download again and notice that Windows automatically assumes the file are mid format and therefore defaulted to add the ".mid" extension on the save menu.

Afterall, I renamed all the files by removing the ".mid" extension. Although I haven't got a chance to play these styles on the CVP before I finished work this afternoon. However, I do managed to listen to play these styles using the "midi and style player" found in:

http://home7.inet.tele.dk/js/mandsplay/index.htm

This time, they work fine. The "style player" show up their respective components and plays: Intro / Fill in / Main / Ending. Lovely.

To change the .PSR extension, click the right button of the mouse on the name of the file, and then select the option Change Name

Some lessons in Windows Explorer:

1. Double clicking on a file will execute (meaning run) it. This is not the choice you want, because Windows can't run style files.

2. Right click on the file. You will get a menu with one of the choices being Rename. Choose this. If you prefer using the keyboard, the shortcut is F2

3. Now you can rename the file. Backspace out the .prs (or mid), and enter (or leave in ) .sty

4. Some versions of Windows will ask you if you really know what you are doing by changing the file extension. Reply Yes.

5. If Explorer is not showing the extension, you need to change your View settings: Tools>Folder Options>View> uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.

Hope this helps

I'd like to say a big thankyou to Fred and all the others who have replied and helped me get these styles up and running.they are all working a treat now.

I also use the mid type files that originally came down the line as songs, they all work except a few out of the classic folder and they are fine in the pc but in the cvp it says data not loaded correctly/I tried re loading them to the flas drive but still the same so its an issue with windows as they work on the pc from the flash drive also.

I think I understand now how an ext on a file can change the actual end result in the cvp.I understand now that the songs are built on the styles yet i still find it amazing that the gentleman uploaded his 307 styles and there are all those song files plus words etc.still have a lot to learn but I think with all the great help round here should soon have it under my belt.

thankyou all very much and a big thankyou to the person who uploaded his styles to that linked site
