Hi All

Here is my 300th post. I was hoping to make it a BIG one but I am waiting for something to happen.

So, as not to let this momentous occasion just slip by, I thought I would let you know that I am on Skype.
This is a free (PC to PC) Voice over the internet phone, which means you can call me direct, all you need is a mic or headset.

I have often thought, what a pitty this forum does not have a "Chat" mode. Talking to someone is far better then sending a post and waiting to get a reply.

Not only can you talk, but at the same time, you can send instant messages and send files.

My Skype user name is midi.magic here is a link to the Skype web site.

http://www.skype.com

I look forward to hearing from you.

Very cool, Midi!

I wish I could call you but I'm behind a proxy.

Hey! Congratulations! 300 posts... wow! Hey if you don't upgrade to a 300 series CVP soon, you may eventually loose your "top poster" position! :D

BTW, does that count all your posts from the old forum?

And to all cvpug users: I'm rarely online (as MM probably knows) but my skype id is dcaputi. I highly endorse this software, it's really quite remarkable (and FREE to boot!).

Anyone wanna buy some old Ham Radio equipment?
(only kidding - I don't actually own any - it's my dad's - and I know that's a soft spot with you, MM) ... But in all seriousness, what are all you hammers gonna do with all that hardware?

Hi Wally

I have an ASDL router this end which has a built-in firewall and Skype works just fine. They are some issuses I think with company firewalls but I just loaded the software and it works.

Here is a FAQ from their site:

Does Skype support connections through proxies and authenticating firewalls?
Yes, Skype supports regular HTTP or HTTPS proxies, and authenticating HTTPS/SSL and SOCKS5 proxies. In Windows, the Internet Explorer settings are used. See Skype for Linux FAQ about how to set them in Skype for Linux. You can fine-tune proxy settings in Skype Options.

You could always install it and see. There is NO spyware in it and it is free.

I often have 1 hour long chats with Dancaputi.

Hi Dan

BTW, does that count all your posts from the old forum?

No, just this forum I think. Yes, there are a few people catching me up. Did you see the hidden hint ???????????

Anyone wanna buy some old Ham Radio equipment?

I know, there is not enogh time anymore. I have 6 radios, one of which I bought last year (don't know why) but I don't have time to use any of them. As far as "talking to the world" I use "Echolink". This is yet another VOIP program but is for Ham only, as it can have REAL transmitters attached to the PCs at the other end.

I had a call out of the blue, from South Africa Tuesday night, from a guy who had done a search on Midi. He had only just loaded the program and wanted someone to chat to.
It's GREAT fun.
