What is the CVPUG?
The CVPUG is the CVP Users Group. I started it after I bought my CVP-96 and couldn't figure out how to use all of the many features of the instrument. The Users Manual only went so far at teaching me what the various features were, but it didn't do squat for teaching me HOW to use them. So I put together this group!

We have a home page on the WWW (www.cvpug.com) so that people can find us using various search engines, and it gives us a place to post some files that may be of interest to the group. We have a discussion bulletin board where members can get help with their questions or projects.

The Charter of CVPUG is simply to help each other learn to get the most return out of our investment.

Who can join?
You can join! Anybody can join. We encourage all CVP owners and users of all ages and at all levels of ability to join.

How can I join?
11) Visit cvpug.com and click on the "No account yet? Create one" link at the top of the page.

2) Enter your birth date. This is to ensure that you are not a minor. Click "Proceed".

3) Agree to the rules for posting. Click the box next to "I have read, and agree to abide by the CVP Users Group Forums rules." Click "Register."

4) Follow the instructions and click on "Complete Registration."

5) IMPORTANT! Continue to follow the instructions and provide the information you are asked for. IMPORTANT!!!!!! Due to the increased amount of user accounts being requested by SPAMMERS, I will not approve a new user who does not provide some personal information about hobbies, interests, bio, etc. You MUST enter this information so I can know you from the autobots that try to generate user accounts just to distribute SPAM.

5) An email will be immediately sent to the email address you specified above. Just follow the instructions in the email and you are registered. Once you've done that, you're a CVPUG member in the new online forums!

Why would I want to join?
Primarily, the group exists to help you use the various features of the CVP. If you want to learn how to do various things with MIDI, or connecting your CVP to your home computer, or how to download files from the internet (or upload them!), CVPUG is here to assist you.

How much does it cost to join?
Nothing.

Which model Clavinovas does the CVPUG relate to?
All CVP- and CLP- series Clavinovas are relevant. Even the older models. We also have forums for Tyros and other keyboards.

How can I begin a discussion about a question I have?
1) Simply click on the Forums link at the top of the page.

2) Click on the forum you'd like to post a message to.

3) Click on New Thread.

Can I upload files to share with people in CVPUG?
Yes, but the file you wish to upload must be accessible from a web address.

1) Click on the Download button at the top of the page.

2) Click on Add Download located just below the search bar.

3) Complete the form, including a brief description of what the file is.

4) Select a catagory from the drop down list.

5) Click on Add This File.

The link to the file will be held until it's approved by a Moderator. Once approved, the link (NOT THE FILE) will be added to the Downloads page under the catagory you selected. The file will NOT be transferred to the CVPUG server. The CVPUG Download Page will only contain the link you provided to access the file from wherever you have it stored.

Illegal software - the obvious position.
Requests for illegal software are NOT acceptable. There is a lot of software for MIDI on the market, and most (if not all) of it is compatible with the CVP. Some of it is protected under copyright laws and some of it is freely distributable.

Please determine for yourself if the software or file you wish to distribute is copyright protected. DO NOT upload copyrighted software or files to the CVPUG web site, or use the CVPUG email server to distribute it (unless you own the copyright).

All of Yamaha's software, including the disks that came with your instrument, is copyright protected. We are not permitted to have that software on our server, so please don't upload it. It will be removed. Also, please don't ask the group for, or offer to share your Yamaha software.

Topics that are inappropriate.
This group is open to CVP enthusiasts of all ages, so please keep your comments and topics clean.

Basically, I believe that you are free to discuss any topic you choose to discuss. If you feel a need to talk about world politics or some movie you've seen then that is your right. But please try to keep at least part of your message relevant to CVPs so that we don't frustrate and loose some of our most talented folks!

It is completely inappropriate to ask anyone in the group to violate the copyright laws pertaining to commercial software by asking for copies of Yamaha disks. All Yamaha disks are commercially available if you want one. If you own a Yamaha disk and lost it or damaged it, Yamaha will replace it if you call Yamaha Customer Support.

Can I use the CVPUG to advertise something I want to sell?
The CVPUG is a terrific place to buy, sell, or trade anything that relates to CVPs, such as PianoSoft software, sequencer software, MIDI hardware, or even your CVP.

If you're a non-commercial member, such as a CVP owner, you should post a message describing the item you want to sell, trade, or give away into the CVPUG Exchange Forum.

If you're a commercial member, such as a dealer or software company, and you'd like to advertise your store or your product, you may post a short message in the CVPUG Exchange Forum to let the members know who you are and what you wish to sell. If you'd like to purchase advertising space on the CVPUG web site, contact me using the Private Messages Forum.
