Internet Direct Connection

I recently purchased a CVP 407 about a month ago. One of the selling points to me was that I was able to download sheet music and songs from IDC. I have to admit that I am very disappointed with this service. The quality of the sheet music arrangements is awful. Is it me or do others agree. Does anyone out there have any good web sites to download quality sheet music arrangements.

Thumbs down

The problem is that Yamaha machines are dedicated (internally directed) to IDC site only. You're not able to connect to other site (there are some ways to do that, look at one of my post from past where one has to use proxy server for redirection) but it is complicated.

The quality of these scores maybe is questionable but you have to know that it is intended for novice players not professionals. On the other hand, IDC scores are quite expenssive and Yamaha earns with it big money. They don't want to open it for public usage. There were some complaints about that (my goes here as well) because when I was purchasing my 403 CVP there was statement "one is able to connect to internet" but one is able to connect to IDC site only.

The net is the net, etc.

So, it really means "connect ONLY to Yamaha's IDC site VIA the internet !"
Well, big fat deal... might as well have a dial up bulletin board.

I still don't have a Clavinova, every time I get close there seem to be more crappy issues like this one, the A/C hum, the high frequency "hiss", etc.
Every generation of CVP has a "show stopper".

Anyway, can it accept midi files ?
If so that might be a solution, just download them to a REAL computer that can connect the THE REST OF THE INTERNET and copy them to a USB drive.
I am making the assumption, perhaps unreasonable, that it can read a regular file system.

Oh, there are some sort of registration/pre-sets too, right ?
You would have to do all that stuff manually.

I think all CVP models accept midi files.

I download midi files to my PC or laptop and then transfer the files to the CVP via USB flash memory. Midi files intended for guide mode may require some attention to separate the left and right hands into two different channels so that the guide function works correctly.

I have recently scanned piano scores and then converted them to midi files when I have been unable to find what I want on the internet.

By "sheet music" I presume you mean midi file. You may find what you want by searching for midi file versions of the song on the internet.

I can't vouch for quality, but this web site seems to have many free midi files for download.
